Although we were disappointed to lose the deal, the Lofi.co founder told us he was impressed with Discord’s vision for the app’s future. We stayed hopeful that the service we enjoyed would get the upgrade it deserved.

The Shutdown Announcement

Months later, without warning, the Lofi.co website displayed a notice: it was going to be shut down. As heavy users ourselves, this was a blow. That’s when we decided to take matters into our own hands. If the tool we loved was disappearing, we would build our own.

That decision was the start of Lofizen—a distraction-free lofi music and productivity app designed to keep the spirit of Lofi.co alive while making it even better.

What Discord Did With Lofi.co

Eventually, Discord released what they had been working on: they integrated Lofi.co as one of many mini-apps inside the Discord platform. While it was great to see the brand live on, the new version didn’t deliver the same focused, minimalist experience we had originally fallen in love with.
